Frequently Asked Questions

Products

Are the drawers solid wood?
Our custom drawers are made of 5/8" thick solid wood. This refers to the drawer's front, back and sides. Drawer bottoms are made of either 1/4", 3/8" or 1/2" plywood depending on the size of the drawer and the intended load. See Custom Drawers for more details.
How much weight can they hold?
Our standard ball-bearing drawer slides are rated for 100 lbs per pair of slides- in other words, per drawer. This 100 lbs limit applies to the weight of the drawer plus the contents inside.

The drawers themselves are built to carry the weight of the intended load (discussed at the design consultation). The bottom thickness can be increased as needed, and bracing can be added underneath extra wide drawers.

Existing Cabinets

Does my cabinet style matter?

No, we can install drawers and organizers in either face-frame or frameless/Euro-style cabinets. There are several ways to attach the slides to the cabinets. If door hinges protrude into the cabinet opening, we can use spacers to allow clearance for the drawers as needed.

What about the shelf inside my cabinet?

Lower cabinets typically have a shelf running across the middle of the space. If the shelf is fixed (permanently attached to the cabinet) we typically leave it alone and install a drawer directly above it, and another drawer at the bottom of the cabinet. If the shelf is removable, it is usually best to take it out in order to maximize vertical clearance for storage.

What about the piece between two doors?
A stile is a vertical piece of wood found in some face-frame cabinets to cover the space between two doors. One option is to leave the stile in place and use narrower drawers behind each door.

The other option is to cut out the stile and reattach it to the left door. (Hidden bracing is added below the countertop as needed.) This preserves the original look of the cabinet when the doors are closed, but creates one large opening when the doors are open. In this case, the new drawers will span the entire width of the space. See the "Stile Relocation" photo set at the bottom of the Gallery for an example.
Can you add drawers under a sink?

With some limitations, yes. One option is to only have one drawer at the bottom of the cabinet. Another option is to install two drawers, with a square notch cut in the back of the upper drawer (a U-shaped drawer when viewed from above) to allow clearance for the plumbing. See the "Bathroom Pull-out Drawers" section of the Gallery to view examples.

Can you work around a pipe/conduit?
Yes. These are common under sinks and near stoves. If the obstruction is near the back of the cabinet, a shallower drawer can be made. If the obstruction is on the side, the drawer can be made narrower.

Pricing

What price range should I expect?
Pricing depends on factors like wood type, front scoop, dimensions, and slide choice. A typical 4" high solid maple drawer with standard slides, mounting hardware, and installation is $160-200 per drawer.

Relocating a stile (the piece between two cabinet doors) and adding hidden bracing above is priced separately. When comparing pricing for a given cabinet space, relocating the stile and having two wide drawers costs about 30% less than leaving the stile and having four narrow drawers.
Do you give discounts?

We generally do not offer discounts or advertise sales. Instead, we offer consistently competitive prices for a valuable product. We do not inflate our estimates with "bargaining room" in order to lower them for savvy negotiators. This means you never have to worry about haggling: the price quoted is the lowest we offer. We believe this builds trust and makes for a more pleasant shopping experience.

Payments

What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, check, Zelle, and card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). Directions for paying with your chosen method are listed on each invoice.
How do I use a payment link?
When you receive an invoice from us via email, the body of the email will have a clearly marked payment link (the retainer invoice link states "pay online for this invoice" in blue, the final invoice has a green "Pay Now" button). Clicking on the link will take you to a secure payment page where you can enter your card information to pay.

Alternatively, if you open the PDF of an invoice (included as an attachment to the email), there is a link to the same payment page. The link is a small credit card icon labeled "Secure Payment Link" near the bottom of the invoice.
When do I need to pay?
When you approve the estimate, a retainer invoice for 50% of the total job price will be sent to you. Your payment initiates the project: we will then order job-specific materials.

The final invoice is for the remaining 50% of the total job price. This final payment is due upon the full completion of the project.

Time

What is the process?
1) We'll schedule a design consultation to meet with you at your home.
2) At the appointment, we'll listen to your needs and discuss solutions using examples from catalogs, photos, and samples. We'll also take detailed measurements of your cabinets. In 1-3 business days you will receive an emailed estimate for your review.
3) When you approve the estimate and pay a 50% retainer, job-specific materials will be ordered and your custom drawers will begin production.
4) We'll contact you about 3 weeks later, when all materials are ready, to schedule the installation. Upon completion of the project, the remaining balance of 50% is due.
How long does the design consultation take?

Plan on the appointment taking 1-2 hours, depending on the scale of your project. Typically, the first part will be spent discussing your organizational needs, preferences, and solutions. This will be followed by the Easy Reach Drawers representative taking measurements for the second part.

How soon can you schedule the installation?

Installations can usually be done about 4 weeks after we receive the retainer payment. We will contact you once the materials for your project are received and inspected to schedule the installation date. Or, if it helps you to have a date set farther in advance, we can schedule it when the retainer payment is made.

How long does the installation take?

Most installations take one full day, depending on the size and complexity of the job. We will never compromise quality for speed.
